NJCCCS AND NET.

Technology has had a significant impact on our society and our schools. Regardless of whether any given teacher makes use of technology in the classroom, because technology is changing our
world it's impact will ultimately be felt in all social institutions, including schools. The department
of education recognised it's importance by including technology in the orginal cross content
workplace readiness standards.
All students must understand and be comfortable with the concepts and application of technology, not only in order to function in today's complex society, but also to become informed and productive adults of tomorrow. Colleges and employers are now demanding that students and employees possess a broad range of computer and information literacy proficiences. To ensure that students are computer literate, a separate standard that defines rigorous, in-depth
learning has been included. The computer and information literacy standard is design to be integrated and applied in all of the content areas of the core curriculum content standards
Similarily, I agree with Deklerk that students form negative attitude about the technological
world if there are no formal technological experience. Therefore, students who learn important
technological concepts develop positive attitudes about technology. For these reasons, an
introduction to technology education including engineering and technological design is an essential component of a thorough and efficient K -12 educaion.

  1. Vivian,

You claimed, "I agree with Deklerk that students form negative attitude about the technological world if there are no formal technological experience."

Who is Deklerk? Is this an article you read? Please elaborate and post the reference for the class.

    Thank you!

  2. In the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards on Technology Education, I agree with DeKlerk because my personal experience has taught me that when a student, no matter at what age is not given a proper head start, and orientation in a particular subject area, they tend to be thrown off in that area. In so far as it is a great idea to teach and preach technology and other innovations, there is need to introduce students to the cultures that support these innovations. Otherwise, they will hate that subject and its benefits to them forever. This is why it calls for compassionate and skilled teachers to teach these new subjects.

Please post the reference for the class. I am still unsure who DeKlerk is and to which reference this posting refers to.
